WITHANIA

Withania is a dietary supplement containing a dry extract titrated at 5% of Withania somnifera, also known as ashwagandha, a widespread plant in central Asia, India, Africa and the Himalayas.

It represents the cornerstone of ayurvedic medicine, as it has significant tonic-adaptogenic features. For this reason, it is also known as “Indian ginseng”. The plant’s active ingredients with beneficial features are the withanolides. Withania can effectively facilitate the organism’s general adaptation to stress, especially to boost natural defences and fight physical and mental fatigue. Recent studies confirm its anxiolytic properties and tonic effect on male and female sexual functionality, also determining an increased number and volume of sperms compared to the placebo-controlled group. Withania acts by modulating the VO2 Max in case of healthy and athletic adults, and facilitates the increase of muscle strength and mass. It has a positive effect on muscle damage (DOMS) repair; improves general and short-term memory, cognitive functions, attention and information processing times. As for its immunomodulatory action, it seems to be correlated with the ability of inducing the macrophages’ synthesis of nitric oxide (NO), thus promoting the presence of oxygen and, consequently, a significantly increased oxidative burst. Instead, at the heart of its adaptogenic features there is the inhibition of a stress-related upper regulation of the dopamine receptors in the striated body.

Withania is indicated in case of psychophysical stress associated with overall asthenia, anxiety, weight gain, insomnia and the reduction of the immune defences. It is useful for athletes who are subjected to heavy workloads, to improve the athletic performance in maximal and resistance training. It is indicated in case of mental fatigue and memory loss.

CONDITIONS OF USE

Take 1 tablet a day, preferably during a meal, with half a glass of water.
